About Rwanda

Land of a thousand hills

Known for its breathtaking scenery and being the home of Mountain Gorillas, Rwanda is often referred to as “le pays des mille collines”, French for ‘Land of a thousand Hills.’

In these rolling hills that cover the entire country, you will encounter volcanic mountains, pristine lakes, numerous rivers, amazing birdlife, primates and other wonderful wildlife – all complemented by a fascinating history.

The people of Rwanda are some of the world’s most charming and hospitable folks, whose culture comes to life through traditional music, songs, and dance.

Gorilla tracking is the quintessential safari experience in Rwanda. The gorilla experience is done in the Virunga volcanic mountains, which are shared between Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The Republic of Rwanda is a landlocked country in the Great Rift Valley, where the African Great Lakes region and East Africa converge. Located a few degrees south of the Equator, Rwanda is bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and DRC. You can combine a safari to Rwanda with a visit to Uganda and or Kenya, and vice-versa via the East African Tourist Visa.
