Join your driver-guide on an early morning game drive to explore Murchison Falls National Park’s diverse wildlife. Look out for elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, Rothschild giraffes, hippos, waterbucks, bushbucks, and Jackson’s Hartebeest, among others. Birdlife is also abundant, with species such as the Abyssinian ground hornbill, grey herons, African fish eagle, and saddle-billed storks.
Return to the lodge for lunch. At 2:00 pm, you’ll transfer to a pier on the Nile River for a boat cruise towards the base of the falls. Along the way, you may see hippos in the water and Nile Crocodiles lining the riverbank. Capture stunning photos and enjoy the view from the rocks at the base of Murchison Falls. After disembarking, hike to the top of the falls, where you will witness the Nile forcefully funnelling through a 7–8-meter gorge, creating one of the most powerful waterfalls on earth. After the hike, join your driver-guide for your return trip to the lodge.
Take an early breakfast, check out of your hotel, and transfer to the Kaniyo Pabidi Forest. After a briefing by the resident ranger/guide, embark on a trek to the chimpanzee sanctuary. Along the way, you’ll encounter other primates, such as olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. Your informative guide will share knowledge about the various types of trees and ancient stories about the forest. The highlight of the tracking session is a close-up encounter with the chimpanzees.
